Writing a Scenario-Based AI Prompt!

Welcome to the mid-week blast, and let’s look into ‘Scenario-Based’ prompting to help you on your day to day!

Although I use ChatGPT in the title of some of these articles, these prompts and ideas can be applied to a huge array of AI tools such as Bing AI Chat and Google Bard.

It’s always great to consider different options out there as you may find that some tools perform better than others for certain situations.

The Anatomy of the Scenario-Based Prompt

You can ask AI tools to perform a certain action based on a specific scenario! Here’s an example, and I’ve colour-coded the important aspects of it:

I work in a major corporate and global company. I am a digital marketer and have been tasked to write an outline for a social media strategy for a new product. Can you suggest the key aspects I should include in the strategy? Please write in bullet points.”

  • The Scenario - Be clear of the specific role and scenario that you are interested about.

  • The Challenge - Write about the challenge that you are interested in having some help with.

  • The Action - Focus on the action you want ChatGPT to perform. The more specific and clear the better.

  • The Format - Although optional, including a specific format type will help ensure you receive the information in a way that is most helpful for you!

The Result

Inputting the prompt above on ChatGPT 3.5 we get a very quick response that breaks down the key aspects of a social media strategy to start.

Using ChatGPT 3.5 to ask the prompt

The more detail you write in the prompt, especially with the specific nature of the scenario, the better and more custom-built the response would be.

In this case, as an example, naming the type of product or the brand name could have led to a more specific result.

Other considerations:

  • Including a time frame

  • Specific sections that you know are required

  • Details about the challenges you have

  • Details about the industry

  • Clear KPI and end-objective for the strategy

So What Next?

The first response is only the beginning!
